Greatest Common Factor. The highest number that divides exactly into two or more numbers. It is the "greatest" thing for simplifying fractions! Let's start with an Example. Earlier we found that the Common Factors of 12 and 30 are 1, 2, 3 and 6, and so the Greatest Common Factor is 6. So the largest number we can divide both 12 and 30 exactly by is 6, like this: ÷ 6.

Complete your Common Factor collection. Get Down is a proper deep house odyssey, clocking at over 12 minutes, a very funky, hypnotic, euphoric, intense yet dreamy, a perfect example of high class late oon afterhours session material, and one of Common Factor's personal peaks. An album is a collection of audio recordings issued as a collection on compact disc (CD), vinyl, audio tape, or another medium. Albums of recorded music were developed in the early 20th century as individual 78-rpm records collected in a bound book resembling a photograph album; this format evolved after 1948 into single vinyl LP records played at 33 1⁄3 rpm. Vinyl LPs are still issued, though album sales in the 21st-century have mostly focused on CD and MP3 formats.

Greatest common factor explained. This is the currently selected item. Practice: Greatest common factor. Let's write the factors of 8. Well, 1 goes into 8. 2 goes into 8. 3 does not go into 8. 4 does go into 8. And then the last factor, pairing up with the 1 is 8. So now we've written all the factors of 12 and 8. So let's figure out what the common factors of 12 and. 8 are. Well, they both have the common factor of 1. And that's really not so special. So the greatest common factor of 5 and 12 is 1. And I'll throw out some terminology here for you. When two numbers have a greatest common factor of only 1, they're called relatively prime. And that kind of makes sense because a prime number is something that only has 1 and itself as a factor.

You can completely factor each number and then compare the the prime factors, see what they have in common, and from there determine the greatest common factor for each pair. Eventually you'll find a pair that has 8 as its greatest common factor and you found the answer. However, here is one way that I like to approach this problem when it is presented as a multiple choice question. The second step is to divide each number by the proposed greatest common factor, in this case it's still 8. The reason why I like this method is that we're already doing this in the first step to check if they are divisible by 8, so I like to think of it as being free. This would leave us with 2 & 3 from our second choice and 2 & 4 from out fourth choice. The third step is to completely factor the remaining numbers. The fourth step is to eliminate choices where common factors still exist.

In greatest common factor (. F)or highest common factor (. F) or greatest common divisor (. D), we know that there is no difference between them. 1. What is the greatest common factor (. F) of 96 and 64? Solution: Factors of 96 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48 and 96. Factors of 64 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32 and 64. Therefore, common factor of 96 and 64 1, 2, 4,8, 16 and 32. Greatest common factor (. F) of 96 and 64 32. 2.
