Beat Heart, Beat is the third full-length album recorded by the Southampton-based Ska punk band Howards Alias. The album was released by Household Name Records on 4 July 2005 on compact disc. Less of an extreme leap and more of a natural progression from their previous album The Answer Is Never, the album saw the addition of a keyboard (played by the multi-talented Nicholas Horne) and the arrival of new drummer Jon Warren; formerly of Workin Lunch.

I don't understand why some are saying that The KLF ripped off The Heart Beat from Liason D. to make What Time is Love ? Since the date says it all KLF What Time is Love was released in 1988Liason D. was released in 1989 Thus a year after so i guess it is false info .The word "Trance" in a Techno tune doesn't mean nothing imo since trance could be another meaning than be the music style/genre on it's whole .It is like those people that cannot make a difference between Rave and Hardcore/Gabber , some claims that Sperminator : No Woman Allowed is pure Hardcore which it isn't at all since you have the same material used in tunes like 80Aum : Mindcontroller , Interactive : Who is Elvis and Egma : Let the Bass Kick , etc....Back then alot artists used the same riffs, sounds, hihats , etc....doesn't mean they ripped off or stole them imho .The to make it easy simple we can conclude that all the electronic music ripped off/stole materials from Kraftwerk by that logic ? .....shrugs....

Heartbeat sounds like a rehash of Dr. Felix - Relax Your Body released in 1989.

"New Beat is boring, Acid House is dead. This is... Trance Dance"Damn right! The Belgians were at the forefront of dance music in the late 80's & early 90's. You just need to watch the TSOB (The Sound Of Belgium) movie to understand this. They grabbed the dance scene by the balls, and gave us Rave.

Future FJP was another amazing track that came out back in 1989.

Just a few corrections : What time is love From KLF was in fact the first record to mention the word trance on it (on its sleeve : Pure trance). But "Heartbeat" was the first record to have it in his lyrics, and to use it as a slogan... Another point : "What time is love" was either inspired by Our Darkness (1984!) but also by Ann Clark 's "Sleeper in Metropolis" : the main melody of KLF can be heard in the final part of it...

Let's face it though, Heart-Beat is not trance, both in the original early 90s sense of the sound OR the trash which came later on i.e. the epic, arpeggiated, never ending drum rolled crap from the mid 90s onwards. It's not even trancy in the hypnotic sense. It might mention it in the lyrics but that's where the similarities end IMO of course :) It's an amalgamation of techno, new beat & that brand of ebm Belgium was influenced by & knocking out at the time, to me anyway. Man, in some ways I wish trance actually did sound similar to this or the flipside, which unfortunately it doesn't and never did.

Wow, totally correct on the Ann Clark tracks!I can't believe the attitude that KLF had, what absolute cheek of them to claim rights on something when they clearly stole themselves! My respect for The KLF has went down. Thanks for the info BomberOne, Ann Clark is a true innovator!

This was a great one, full of energy and with famous lyrics, including the historical " New beat is boring, acid hose is dead, this is Trance dance", first ever reference to trance in a techno record. The funny thing is that KLF, proud advocate of sampling (Kopyright Liberation Front is their name!) were offended by this diversion on their track and claimed the rights on it! It was then re-realeased on Deconstruction with their name as authors(!), and included in their What Time is Love EP, that gathered various copy made of the original. A really surprising attitude, especially knowing that "What time is love" was clearly "inspired" by Ann Clark's "Our darkness", an electro gem from 1986... Future FJP, an instrumental track, was also a big hit at that time, and had a deep influence on the first techno-house tracks that started to appear later that year, leading .

Bloody hell we all are totally OCD on this.... Music ;)

Hmm, fair do's, you're absolutely right. I completely overlooked that. Me silly :/
Nalaylewe
He didn't say that it was a trance record. He said it was the "first ever reference to trance in a techno record".
one life
Mentioning the word Trance-Dance (albeit two words) in a record doesn't make it trance, not even close :)
