Lyrics to "Valley Of The Damned" song by DragonForce: On a cold dark winter night hidden by the stormy light A battle rages for the right for what will b. .On the wings of life, by the hands of hope By the brightest light from the brightest sun Crossing silent seas over mountains high To the valley of the damned. On the black wind forever we ride on together Destroying your evil with freedom our guide When the master will storm us He'll stand high before us Our hearts filled with splendour Our swords will shine over the light

Songs like ‘Valley of the Damned’ and ‘Disciples of Babylon’ have some really kickass moments and memoable vocal melodies, but then descend into the standard DragonForce routine of ruining a perfectly good song with stupidly fast solos that lack any sense of musicality. As a fan of shred guitar playing, it saddens me to say this, but in the case with this band, ‘speed kills’. Reply Notify me Helpful.

Their first album Valley of the Damned is a good example that characterizes this kind of direction. Now quickly before we get to the gist of this album I want to mention the lone positive point in this release and it is the production. Without surprise, we have a well-produced album where instruments can be distinctively heard and the overall mix is balanced. All in all, 'Valley of the Damned' is certainly my favourite Dragonforce album and probably the easiest to listen to, while the variety that is exhibited here bears the stamp of great musical ability and better taste than the band would later show. Best listened to while looking for overblown inspiration, doing something very quickly, or - of course - when playing air guitar in your living room.

Valley of the Damned is essentially a newer Blind Guardian album with extreme shredding. However, compared to their later efforts Sonic Firestorm and Inhuman Rampage, their debut may seem a bit tranquil to many. They haven’t yet fully adopted their trademark style of light-speed riffing with excessive wanking of the fretboards. Sure, riffs are still fast and the guitars still solo unlike any other traditional power metal bands, but Valley of the Damned is in every aspect underdeveloped compared to newer works. You should not of course let these few minor hindrances stop you from enjoying what. The guys from DragonForce aren’t really known for their multi-dimensional approach to writing music. The band’s music is all built on the same basic formula. Luckily for this English clique, that formula happens to be one with extreme appeal.

With the obvious talent and potential to become one of the greatest power metal bands of all time, the thing that makes DragonForce stand out the most is also the thing that annoys me about them. They’re too fast.‘Valley of the Damned’ has a very promising start, with the title track producing some very nice riffs, accompanied by some incredibly catchy vocals, however, this is as good as it gets, as halfway through the song the band, in particular, guitarists Sam Totman and Herman Li, decide to disregard any logical tune and just shred away. It quickly becomes apparent that this is the formula for all of their songs. With bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X being top influences of mine, it’s clear that shredding isn’t a problem for me. What bothers me when DragonForce start wailing away, is that it’s so fast and flashy that there is no distinguishable melody. Every solo, and I mean EVERY solo, sounds exactly the same, and by that I mean a flurry of notes where the main focus is flashy acrobatics over actual substance. As a result, it's hard to really care once they get started. It’s a shame, because this band has a lot of potential, and in the very few cases when they do slow down their music is awesome.

Great album. Note that the song list and the lyrics in the info booklet may not include the bonus track, Where Dragons Rule. The track was still on the disc, at least for me. Also note that the version of this song is NOT the demo version. It is the one the goes "Never you will look back again", not "Never you will surrender". I made this mistake, but the product is as described
