The Singles (Goldfrapp album). 2012 compilation album by Goldfrapp. Following the duo's departure from EMI in August 2010, it was confirmed in April 2011 that Goldfrapp had begun work on their sixth studio album. In December 2011, it was announced that a 14-track retrospective compilation titled The Singles would be released on 6 February 2012 by Mute Records and Parlophone, including the biggest singles from their five studio.
Has it really been almost 12 years since Goldfrapp's musical debut? Since the electronic duo's Mercury Prize-nominated first album Felt Mountain in 2000, Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have gone on to sell millions of records worldwide, picking up a hoard of prestigious accolades along the way. Having steadily built a large profile and a cult following, it seems as good a time as any to remind us exactly what they've achieved. Aptly titled The Singles, the disc contains 14 of their finest and, we might add, eye-poppingly brilliant string of releases
The Singles begins at the peak of Goldfrapp’s popularity, with Ooh La La and Number 1, the singles from 2006’s Supernature. It’s a killer opening act, though it also speaks to the confidence that Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory have in their lesser-known material. Without fanfare, they've accompanied this collection with the "Melancholy Sky" single and twirling non-album exclusive "Yellow Halo," two pieces of moderately noncommittal chamber pop that are, truth be told, among the duo's most lukewarm offerings. That said, these shouldn't detract anyone from the fact the twelve singles that preceded them rank next to the synth pop genre's best.

Goldfrapp are an English electronic music duo from London, formed in 1999. Goldfrapp's second album Black Cherry, which incorporated glam rock and synthpop sounds into their music, was released in 2003.
Goldfrapp's first album is represented here by the two singles taken from the 2000, Mercury short listed, album 'Felt Mountain'. Both 'Lovely Head' and 'Utopia' have less pace and more of an ambient feel. Alison, fresh from here days with Trcky and Orbital, and Will, not long from working on cinematic soundtracks, are both quite a far removed pair from the duo we know today. Goldfrapp; The Singles is a stunning collection of songs that brings together some of the bands best work in one neat package. Taken from a career to date that has seen them release five albums it serves as a fantastic reminder of just how good they are, how consistent they have been and above all what cracking tunes they have given us.

Goldfrapp – The Singles (2012). Posted by NewAlbumReleases. net On February - 7 - 2012. Just can’t believe in this day and age, when companies know most people are just downloading, there was no DVD with this. Their videos are amazing, particularly the ones from Supernature & Black Cherry. Posted on February 4th, 2012 at 2:15 pm. Darn Said, I miss the days of Felt Mountain. I wish she would go back to that sound. Posted on February 4th, 2012 at 3:23 pm.
