Blackfield - V album
Blackfield is a collaborative music project by the English musician and founder of Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson, and Israeli rock singer Aviv Geffen. Together, five albums have been released under the moniker: Blackfield and Blackfield II as equal partners, and Welcome to my DNA and Blackfield IV with Geffen taking a leading role.
Steven Wilson and Aviv Geffen handle vocals, guitars, and keyboards, alongside guests Tomer Z on drums, Eran Mitelman on keyboards, and strings performances by the London Session Orchestra. Legendary producer, engineer Alan Parsons produced three of the album's key tracks.
Blackfield II has emerged to be the second studio album by the Blackfield band. This album was recorded in London and Tel Aviv and it was later released on March 6, 2007, in United States and February 13, 2007, in Europe. This album entails a one-pack rock, mournful melancholic collections of songs. Blackfield IV has grown to be the type of Aviv Geffen solo album with the aid of some friends such as Steven Wilsons who offered vocal assistance. There are several tracks in this album namely: X-Ray, firefly, after the rain, lost souls, Jupiter, kissed by the devil, sense of insanity, and the only fool is me among other songs. End of the World’ is the cover of the ancient song in Hebrew which was performed by Berry Sakharof and Geffen.

The album was re-released in August of the same year with an additional three-track bonus disc, followed by a later pressing that contains the album and the three bonus tracks all on one CD. Two songs are covers in English of earlier Aviv Geffen songs in Hebrew, "Cloudy Now" (עכשיו מעונן) from 1993 and "Scars" (צלקות) from 2000. In the latter case, Aviv's original studio recording was simply re-used with newly sung vocals. Four singles were released from the album: "Hello", "Pain", "Blackfield" and "Cloudy Now".

Blackfield - blackfield V - new CD album. After two albums dominated by Aviv Geffen comes the fifth album by Blackfield labeled as another collaboration between Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson. But is it really a comeback to Blackfield and Blackfield II that the press release makes it sound like? I haven't really been much of a Blackfield fan over the years but did enjoy some of the material on Blackfield and Blackfield II. Once Steven Wilson's contribution began to fade on Welcome To My DNA and Blackfield IV I stopped listening to the band completely.
