Every time i see her Every time i see the girl Every time i see her Every time i see the girl. She leaves me breathless No one could take the place of you You can look but you can't touch 'cause what I feel for her is true I might sound possessive but if you see her you'd know why She looks good everywhere she goes She could turn your head as she goes by, that's why. Sound Of Eden samples the acapella from Vicky Martin - Not Gonna Do It
Fohuginn
Armageddon samples Kevin Saunderson's Tronikhouse 'Uptempo' . . . .
Early Waffle
That wouldn't surprise me at all as Kevin was used to sampling other peeps tunes. It's common knowledge, for example, that he sampled the classic '86 Nitro Deluxe tune 'Let's Get Brutal' for 'Big Fun'. But yes, nice to have that clarified at last!

It seems like we might have confirmation after all. One of the co-writers of Armageddon, Nick Annies mentions the track on the link below, and according to him, Kevin Saunderson sampled the riff from Shades Of Rhythm https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zuQAbg4uUsY&lc=z122fdgr5lipi5mr104cepfi3xbcy5txdfw.1536604985917201 If Nick Annies happens to stumble upon this post... Like to say, thanks very much for the insight Nick! :)

I happened to purchase Shades Of Rhythm/Armageddon spring 1991. I can't remember Mental Techno being played until later. I obviously wasn't on the pulse. Just quite surprised it was the other way round really. I like both tracks but Armageddon nudges further ahead :) If anything I would've thought those riffs were sampled directly from T99's 'Anasthasia' or from something Belgian anyway. I knew Kevin Saunderson had started dabbling in the UK 'hardcore' techno scene. But I would have sworn Armageddon came first. I'm evidently wrong :)Still not 100% convinced though.https://www.discogs.com/group/thread/771552

Sorry yes, Mental Techno. I asked Nick from Shades about 20 years ago. To me, Mental Techno is cleanest to sample.Where did you get the release dates from? Uptempo on the flip was getting cained all throughout 91 if my memory serves me correct :-)
Vudojar
How can that be? Armageddon was released months before Tronik House. Early to mid 1991. March/April. Could've been even earlier. Tronik House was released later, after the summer. Late summer at the earliest. Listen to both riffs and compare. The Shades Of Rhythm riff sounds cleaner, the Tronik House riff actually sounds like it's sampled S.O.R. and processed more. If what you say is correct, Kevin Saunderson would have made Mental Techno very early 1991. I just can't fathom it to be honest. But I don't mind being proven wrong if that's the case. P.S. I'm assuming you are referring to Mental Techno and what you posted in your original reply was in error and you meant the former and not Uptempo?

I happen to know all of the Shades boys as they are from my hometown . In the 90's they used to run a dj agency called Twisted Trax, I used to play for them. I know I am right because I asked them if they sampled it.
Karon
No it doesn't. It's the other way round. Kevin Saunderson samples the stabs/riffs from Armageddon. Armageddon came out way before Tronik House - Uptempo. It's common knowledge.
White_Nigga
This in my opinion is one of the finest hardcore/house records of the 90's. The lyrics are spot on and have a meaning. The piano is catchy and uplifting. Ok it's not got the depth of other records but it's pure and a timeless classic.
Nuadazius
I want a copy of the sound of Eden. Still sounds like the perfect summer time hardcore/house crossover anthem to this day. Its mellow and smooth and has catchy lyrics. One of 1991's finest records.
Ranterl
I read in a magazine that the guys from shades of rhythm were eating in a cafe and looking for somebody to sing vocals on a track and asked there waitress who said she would do it and that's apparently her on the track
Stylish Monkey
A superb chorus and breakdown along with uplifting pianos, ‘The Sound of Eden’ is a catchy hands-in-the-air sing-along anthem.
Nilabor
Listening now in the cold light of day, you might criticise the slightly faltering lyrics and looped samples, but to the loved up crowds back in the summer of 1991 they captured perfectly the feel of the moment. This record would have everyone thowing their hands in the air, it was a club anthem like no other - a song that almost every raver seemed to love.
kolos
While Sound Of Eden is okay, it doesn't particularly stand out for me amongst any other "rave-lite" tunes from that era. The real beast on this EP is Armageddon, a screaming monster of a tune that truly causes your bones to shake. Take the stab from T99's Anasthasia, warp it to make it sound even more horrible, lay some massive breakbeats on top and you've got a tune that still causes people to stop what they're doing and get that "what the hell is THIS?!" look on their faces.
Frostdefender
I never really favoued this track either because I had heard ; http://www.discogs.com/Shades-Of-Rhythm-Homicide-Exorcist/master/76598 (both tracks) getting hammered for the previous year. It was one of those that really got in my ear/head and I could still hear it the next day clear as a bell. However a lot of people seemed to jump on the bandwagon with this 'here's another chance for you every time I see that girl' tune...even more reason not to like it !
Shazel
I'll add my name to the list of thanks for zykotik's review!Armageddon is a lethal track, an evil satanic mixture of Belgian Techno & UK breakbeat rave.HARDCORE WILL NEVER DIE! :)
Kulwes
Amen to you both. Great tune that was rinsed by Manchester pirate IBC. Did they play the other side? Did they fuck.
Liarienen
LOL agree 100%. Mad mad tune. Still love it to this day. Don't care for the other side one tiny bit, never have done, as I felt it was pure froth even back then and for some reason it always depressed the hell out of me :P All about Armageddon :-)

'The Sound Of Eden' is the finest piece of music to come out of the Rave scene in my opinion. It's a record that will truly stand the test of time because of it's undenying beauty and incredible euphoric feeling. A piece of dancefloor genius that makes guys as well as girls weep. Stunning Rave/House music that will light up any dancefloor, with a vocal and piano breakdowns to die for, backed perfectly by powerful but very funky beats. Fantastic!
Hra
If ever there was ever a choon that was made to get every single girl in the place on to the dancefloor, Sounds of Eden is it. You can't help but put your hands in the air, throw your head back, shut your eyes and sing like you've never sung before. Awesome is a word that's over used these days but it's the only one I can think of to describe hearing this classic thro' a big powerful system.
Modifyn
People WILL know this massive tune instantly by the opening lines "here's another chance for you to dance with me - anymore". Originally released on promo way back in 1989 I belive and given a full (limited) release in 1991 on ZTT. Rumour has it that it will soon be re-issued (probably complete with a new dark 2-step remix) around APRIL/MAY 2002. If it does appear on the shelves of the underground record shops this year - expect it to outsell almost everthing else. It is still a massive tune and older (and wiser) DJ's are still giving it space in their boxes.
