Karen Carpenter is the only solo album by singer/drummer Karen Carpenter of the Carpenters, recorded in 1979-80 and released by A&M Records in 1996. It has sold around 1 million copies worldwide. The album was recorded in New York with producer Phil Ramone in 1979 and 1980, during the time that her brother Richard was being treated for an addiction to Quaaludes. Some of the songs from the album were later featured on the Carpenters' 1989 compilation Lovelines and later releases.

Karen Carpenter and her brother sent out many demos until they attracted the attention of A&M Records co-founder Herb Alpert. He, along with Jerry Moss, eventually signed Karen and Richard as The Carpenters to the A&M record label in April of 1969. Karen Anne Carpenter was a highly successful American pop singer and drummer. She and her brother, Richard, formed the popular 1970s duo Carpenters.
