Helmuth Rilling (b. 1933) recorded all of Johann Sebastian Bach's (1685-1750) sacred Cantatas between 1970 and 1985, with the Bach Collegium Stuttgart and in some cases, Württemburg Chamber Orchestra on 70 CDs as presented here. I find this to be an excellent set: the performances are excellent even if the recording job is in some cases not as clear as the later, digital recordings. Some writers are too critical of Rilling's set, which I believe to be excellent
Also hat Gott die Welt geliebt (God so loved the world), BWV 68, is a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach, a church cantata for the second day of Pentecost. Bach composed the cantata in Leipzig and first performed it on 21 May 1725. It is one of nine cantatas on texts by Christiana Mariana von Ziegler, which Bach composed at the end of his second annual cycle of cantatas in Leipzig

The Frankfurter Kantorei chorus ( FK) (formerly: Kantorei der Dreikönigskirche Frankfurt) is, despite its name, strictly a concert choir with close ties to the Frankfurt School of Music. It specializes in a cappella and orchestral works of the 16th to 18th centuries, and of the 20th century, but it is no less proficient in the major choral works of other periods. The Frankfurter Kantorei is an exception in the choral scene of today. His successors were Helmuth Rilling and Wolfgang Schäfer. In 1997 the composer, conductor and singer Winfried Toll has been elected new director of the choir. From the beginning the performances were categorized by a broad variety of genres and styles. Already in the fifites of the 20th century the choir gained international respect, documented by several record awards.
Bach-Collegium was founded by Helmuth Rilling in 1965 and has been a regular instrumental partner of Gächinger Kantorei ever since. In addition to its leading role in the complete recording of Bach's oratorios and church cantatas the orchestra accompanies the choir on its tours inside and outside Germany.
