what works for me is set Album artist various artists. musicbee should then see one album.
So what happens then is that the album is classified as a compilation but filed under "various artists". I see one problem in where you have enabled prefer online information, since it seems the scraper (atleast the universal one) doesn't set the compilation flag to true for these albums. In the case of picard tagged VA albums, it sets the TCMP tag and kodi picks that up and treats it as a compilation. So what happens then is that the album is classified as a compilation but filed under "various artists". As it turns out I only have a couple . albums with album MBID and wasn't using any in my test music source.
An album is a release with two 2 - 7 or more tracks will be considered an album, basically a LP that is promoted and sold where Neilsen Soundscan can keep track; also count towards a record contract to being completed. Albums are made by artists but controlled by record labels on every level; even the creation process. A remix used to just be adding a breakbeat to ANYTHING. Underground albums given away for (usually) free containing both original and unoriginal works. The purpose is to build a fan base for an upcoming album, typically to create awareness for an artist who is in complete control of this project so they decide the length, content, etc. A mixtape has less structure and sounds more like a collection of songs than fit a theme. It can be an assortment of original and cover songs or songs done over the instrumentals of other songs.

Without an album artist, there is no overall grouping artist. Undesirable compilation 'fragmentation' often occurs when ripping CDs for two reasons. The first is that CD rippers often look up data online, on one of the free CD databases. This data is not always reliable or consistent, and so only the track artist may be populated and this may vary per track. The minimum you should do is populate the track artist field. I prefer "Various Artists" to "Various" (purely a personal preference). The latter is what bliss seems to default to - where and how do i change it? Note I am using a Vortexbox Appliance. Dan Gravell, 6 years ago. Unfortunately the default name that is adopted for mixed artist albums is always "Various" and it's not possible to change it.
