They were initially joined by Roger Brown, Rab Noakes and Ian Campbell in 1972

Album Stealers Wheel. Stuck in the Middle with You Lyrics. Well, I don't know why I came here tonight I got the feeling that something ain't right I'm so scared in case I fall off my chair And I'm wondering how I'll get down the stairs. Gerry Rafferty wrote this song to describe what it’s like to be brought into the big business of music. The inspiration for the song comes from one time the band attended a signing party at a London restaurant; he described the scene as being like the Last Supper, with everyone worshiping the words of wisdom from the record label’s chief executive. Musically, the song has a great guitar groove and is reminiscent of Bob Dylan songs of the early 70s and is meant to be a parody of Dylan’s paranoia. The song was a hit in 1972, peaking at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The band existed for only 3 years, but they recorded 3 albums and several songs charted. After their break-up in 1975 Gerry Rafferty continued his solo career and recorded several hits songs, like "Baker Street" and "Days Gone Down". Hist most successful album City to City peaked at No. 1 in the US and No. 6 in the UK.

Also known simply as "Stuck In The Middle," this Stealers Wheel classic was co-written by the group's guitarist Gerry Rafferty and keyboard player Joe Egan
