The Joker" is a song by the Steve Miller Band from their 1973 album The Joker. It is one of two Steve Miller Band songs that feature the nonce word "pompatus". The song topped the US Billboard Hot 100 in early 1974. More than 16 years later, in September 1990, it reached number one in the UK Singles Chart for two weeks after being used in "Great Deal", a Hugh Johnson-directed television advertisement for Levi's, thus holding the record for the longest gap between transatlantic chart-toppers.

The Joker is the eighth studio album by Steve Miller Band. The album marked a period of significant change for the group as the band abandoned their music for a more melodic, smooth rock/blues sound. Perhaps not coincidentally, it was also their first solid commercial success due to the strong radio-play of the title track. The title track took 19 days to record. The album reached on the Billboard 200 and has been certified Platinum in the United States

The Joker is Wild was the second album released by Alex Harvey after the demise of The Soul Band. The album was released in 1972.
