It was Moore's first album recorded in a professional studio. At this point, he was heavily influenced by Public Image Ltd: " changed my life! That whole postpunk thing, minimalist dub, drums and bass. It almost sounds like fragments, not finished songs. Uncut, never a word When a 2006 New York Times article referenced Moore as the progenitor of "bedroom pop", he responded that the notion was "hilarious to m. Field Day 2012: Tim Burgess' Guide To R. Stevie Moore". Buck, David (August 29, 2017).
Moore then went on to release Shrigley Field, a full-length album based on more lyrics from Worried Noodles. Tonight's performance, orchestrated by Anton Kern and the gallery, will be the first time Moore and Shirgley have ever met. If you can't make it, Shrigley's show will be up at Anton Kern until June 21, and tonight kicks off a four-week residency for Moore at Cakeshop.
The tale of R. Stevie Moore, perhaps the most prolific musician that the world has ever seen. The number of vinyl copies of R. Stevie Moore's first official album, Phonography, that were originally distributed in 1976. One of those copies was rumored to have been owned by Frank Zappa, a noted champion of outsider artists who helped to bring The Shaggs, Wildman Fischer and other musicians to popular attention. Moore has a small, but dedicated following, with fans like Ariel Pink, Jason Falkner, The Lemon Twigs, Jad Fair, David Shrigley, and the band MGMT. Some of his other fans have taken a cue from the man himself and started making documentaries about Moore's life and career.
In 2002 Moore recorded an album with Half Japanese frontman Jad Fair, titled FairMoore, described as "a lovely, heartfelt effort that shows both in top form" by Dave Mandl, who stated that it "brings together two fiercely original figures in the American music underground", the album consisting of Fair reciting his poetry over Moore's instrumental backing. Throughout the 2000s Moore, has continued to issue more official CD's released on various independent labels around the world
