Studio One Radio Show" contains two never before released radio episodes recorded for Studio One by the now defunct JBC during the 1970s. It makes this album not only a fun look into 1970s radio in Jamaica, but also a historical document not to be missed for all Studio One collectors. This set contains some great classic tunes from the usual suspects, but also songs from more obscure names like Jerry Jones, Winston & Jerry and Lloyd Williams, whose tear-smudged reggae milestone Is It Because I’m Black is still great to listen to after all those years.

Here are our favourite albums from this year. Much like our 2017's Best Tracks feature, we arrived at this albums list by drawing on this year's Best Music features and asking for the opinions of RA staff and contributors. And again like that feature, the aim here isn't to be comprehensive-think of it as a snapshot of the albums we thought were somehow extraordinary. You'll also find a few compilations and mix CDs in there, releases that felt like artistic statements on a level with the best albums. With a background in noise and free improvisation, Silvia Kastel brings a fresh perspective to electronic music. Mark Smith visits her studio to hear the story behind the transformation and her spellbinding new album.
