Little Fictions is the seventh studio album by English rock band Elbow, released on 3 February 2017 on Polydor Records and Concord Records. Produced by pianist and keyboardist Craig Potter, the album is the band's first without founding drummer Richard Jupp, who had departed from the band the previous year. The album was preceded by the singles, "Magnificent (She Says)", "All Disco" and "Gentle Storm", and features collaborations with The Hallé Orchestra and their choir.

Released February 2, 2017. Little Fictions Tracklist. 1. Magnificent (She Says) Lyrics.

Ever-reliable Mancunians serve up another album that’s as warming as the morning’s fourth whisky. It’s unfortunate that the cover art for Elbow’s seventh album reflects the cartoonish sci-fi aesthetic of 2016 video game No Man’s Sky, a near-endless virtual universe of 18 quintillion planets that many gamers found to be a repetitive and dreary façade of stratospheric enormity

This change is evident within Garvey's lyrics, which are filled with romantic images and hope, but the impressive thing about Little Fictions is how there is a shift within the group's music. That music is evident from the very sound of the record: it's lighter on the surface yet complex at its foundation, giving the illusion of a constantly moving, silvery shimmer. doing their best Velvet.

Down to £20 most places, silly money for such a great boxset, the album being this good is just an absolute bonus. Don't wait, just get it!
As the follow up to The Take Off and Landing of Everything I was expecting so much more. This album is a complete let down and the first album by Elbow that I cannot listen to.
I agree, its the weakest of all their albums, the peak is over.
Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful album. Finished off in this wonderful Box Set.
Brilliant Album from Elbow, Brilliant pressing yet again from MPO, apart from a crackly last few seconds on both sides (often happens on their pressings) flat vinyl, glossy and unmarked, ultra quite in-between tracks, did fancy stumping up for the White/Violet Vinyl but i'm a bit confused as to who pressed that, it says MPO but a US Concord records release, the black vinyl version from them gets a slating in the reviews. Not sure what the Dynamic range is for this on vinyl but I find it a pleasure to listen to, Guys voice flies out the speaker at you, so crisp and clear.
I have both pressings and the US copy is similar-- so similar I suspect they used the same messed up stampers on both- if different then the master stamper was contaminated as noise seems to be in same locations on both issues. Could have been MUCH better-- especially given the lovely mastering.
I admit to not be a massive Elbow fan but this album has really grabbed me and won’t let go. Lovely pressing as well, clean and silent throughout. I get excited when I buy a new pressing that I don't have to clean!
First play through and the UK/Europe pressing sounds very good. Clean, flat and no surface noise. Highly reccoment it.
Agreed. So glad I bought the U.K. Polydor version. Excellent sounding release.

Just finished cleaning and playing the US edition. Poor quality pressing of an otherwise beautifully created work. I'm beginning to notice just how awful most of the US editions of EU releases are when I see the name Concord Music Group on the jacket. I'm trying to think of a single product of theirs that I've bought in the last several years that has not been a sub-par pressing. I'll update this post if I can think of one good one. I should make a list and post it on the forum and let people add to it. I guess I'll try the getting an import copy as I can tell from the noise all over this pressing that it's the typical crap I've become used to. Sad.
Same here. The U.S. Concord release is terribly off center on side B. The pitch was warbling so much I got seasick. The side B label was blistered and unsticking too. Went to exchange it for another and it was bad too. I adore this band, it's too bad the quality on this U.S. pressing is terrible.
Yeah, mine is off-center (like most new releases I've bought over the past year). I'm going to try the colored U.S. one and hope it's fine?
The neatest, most beautiful vinyl box set I have ever seen. Worked very well with lots of love for detail and design. Eye candy! Very nice.Very sadly on the other hand: The B-Side is so concentric that the string part on "Kindling" modulates. The vinyl is flat like a pancake, which is fine but due to the enormous output the industry has these days, they don't seem to be able to make it perfect in every aspect. Which makes me sick. The price of 48€ seems fair to me, but still I want the making of a record being paid the attention it takes to make a perfect listening experience. I'm not a sound purist but concentric grooves proves the the high fidelity qualities of vinyl wrong. When am I going to start to send all these bad pressings back to make them learn that they can't get through with this? Ever? (Isn't it beautifully made after all...)By the way, it doesn't seem to be one of the strongest Elbow albums, maybe a bit like "Cast of Thousands" or "Build a Rocket", but I didn't expect it to be, after the wonderful, breathtaking "Takeoff and Landing". Still it's got its moments "Magnificent" and "Kindling" and might still grow on me.
I strongly urge you to return it. Regardless of any whining from the industry, we know there are pressing plants that mostly get it right, and others that consistently churn our CRAP product. You think they don't know it? Rest assured the CEO's of those plants know they are producing a crap product as cheaply as they can manage and they honestly do not care because they are confident that most of us will not care. They understand returns when they reach high enough levels... so please do return any defective product you buy-- especially when it is a special edition first pressing. Send it back... again and again until they get the message.
A beautiful and well-crafted album. Superb sound and arrangements. Highly recommended
