so mighty.......love this box 4Life. never missing this....bless the vinyl.

Well, I have mixed feelings about that box. Okay, the musical content is definitely worth all the vinyls. And yes, the heat sensitivity is a nice gimmick, which - by the way - will fade over the time. But what is really bad finally, is the cheaply manufactured surface of the box. However careful you place it on any shelf: the covering will sort of be scrubbed of, especially due to the fact the box is quite heavy. Some more money should’ve been invested for the packaging, I think!!!
Shezokha
So you're a kind of box action hero ;0) ...
Zinnthi
My box has been out and displayed for 20 years, and it looks new.

Probably my Favorite boxsets, the heat sensitive pakaging is pretty sweet. Containing pretty much all Massive Attacks early singles + remixes on 12" vinyl.Happy with it when I purchased it years ago, still happy with it now :)
Quemal
Thank you so much to the person provided the amazing scans of all the artwork! Crystal clear!
Whitecaster
As far as I can tell, these are the tracks missing from the box set that should have been included to make it complete. Even when the label make a box with 11 CD's, they fail to include all the tracks. Stupid. :)---Any Love Any Love (Bonus) Any Love (Inst.) Correct me if I am wrong but:- Any Love (Unknown Remix) - is just "Any Love (2)" and is present on this compilation- Any Love (Unknown Remix) Remix – Larry Heard - is just "Any Love (Larry Heard Remix)" and is present on this compilation - Sly (Underdog Version) is listed as Sly (Underdog Remix) - just different name of "remix"- possibly Sly (Dogapella) is Sly (Double Bass + Acapella) - check it for yourself if you have access to releases when it is named as "Dogapella" and to this one.All remixes of "Be Thankful..." were limited only to US and possibly they simply couldn't be included here. By the way they are boring and totally out of MA sound. True disappointment is lack of original "Any Love". However - as this wasn't released by Circa / Virgin owned label, then probably just financial reasons (buying licenses) was the reason for omitting this one (similarly to "Be Thankful..." remixes, but there also regional licensing/right societies presence in US/EU could be a bigger issue).

Okay, last update on this! Check inflightdata.com for all your Massive Attack discog info. The Jackal soundtrack contains an EDIT OF MAD PROF's REMIX... so NO official copy of MA's original mix of Superpredators exists. From inflightdata.com, "superpredators (the mad professor remix) (edit) [mislabelled as superpredators (metal postcard)]"
Daizil
We will get to the bottom of this! But, is it clearly a different mix on The Jackal? I haven't listened to it, just finally working my way through and enjoying this set. I will compared the versions soon. I enjoy searching and researching all the Massive Attack gold that lies within the bowels of the internet.
Zeli
Oh so there is a Larry Heard mix, plus two REMIXES (promo only) for a total of THREE Larry Heard mixes/remixes of Massive Attack? Or is the mix one of the promo only remixes?
adventure time
Could we add Karmacoma (U.N.K.L.E. Situation Remix (Instrumental))' to the missing list? Did it make on a single? It's present the Mo'Wax Headz comp.
Kizshura
Yes, I spent extensive time researching if the Massive Attack original of Superpredators ever saw the light of day, I can say only Mad Professor's remix did. Similar to Clark's remix of Redlight, the originals were held back from any official release but the remix was released.
I love Mercedes
Stated on Discogs. So why are you saying Superpredators (Mad Professor Remix) is omitted? Its here as discussed.
Malara
Wait wait! It states here that the version in this set is the Mad Professor remix.
Kirizius
Superpredators! Okay, you seem well-versed in Massive info, so there is a Mad Professor remix of Superpredators and a normal Massive Attack mix? I was researching this. "Metal postcard" is the Mad Professor remix, correct? Wait... Superpredators (Metal Postcard) is 4:39 (soundtrack; The Jackal) and Superpredators (The Mad Professor Remix) clocks in at 5:14. So did it get released?? The set is missing the ORIGINAL mix?
Kadar
What was the release limited to? , Vinyl box set? 2000 , 5000 ? Thanks
Hudora
Not entirely sure, but the highest number I've seen so far is 4800, and I can't see it being anymore than 5000, so I'd assume they made 5000.

Still wondering after all those years why the original version of Unfinished Sympathy is missing on this box .....
post_name
Could you please link to original version that you are talking about?
Brightfury
all original versions are missing in each 12" single, not only Unfinished Sympathy
Marg
Could you please elaborate more? Is it available on any other Unfinished Sympathy singles? If yes - which one?

This box set is a collector's item and it was released for that purpose as well as giving the opportunity to get in one purchase all the singles that had been released to that date. It was a limited release too. Furthermore, the thermosensitive box was a complete novelty at the time. Unfortunately with time, the caracteristics of the box are no longer as reactive as they were initially. It still is very cool if you like boxsets and the concept behing them. The music remains exceptional, especially the dub remixes that justify buying the singles. In reply to andyman5, I have personnally often bought cds just for the artwork or for the packaging and more often that not I discovered some great music. Needless to say, I get little satisfaction paying for mp3 downloaded tracks even if I totally understand those just wanting the music.
Monin
8 years on from this post, and my thermosensitive box is just as reactive on the day i bought it.
Modred
Completely agree

As much as I love Massive Attack this was a real 'cash your chips in' kind of release. I mean it is not like this is (11) CD's of new material or anything particularly rare. In fact all of it had previously been released in some form or another. All the important trax are here and some of the remixes, particularly the remixes from trax off Mezzanine, stand out. The problem here is that 63 trax could have fit on 5 maybe 6 CD's and instead here we have multiple versions of the same track spread out over the eleven discs. The artwork and heat sensitive packaging are cool... but who really buys music for the artwork? No disrespect to Massive Attack, they deserve to cash in a little, but maybe next time they throw on some new remixes or some rare studio stuff.
Winenama
I buy music for the artwork as well as the actual music :L
Zahisan
Not all people bought their singles as separate releases before. That was first and only one possibility to get them all here in Poland. For a person who previously heard only their albums it's at least 40 new tracks (63 minus main versions and radio edits). Not all of them are decent. But some of them are. And for someone who has only albums - this is definitely worth buying.
