Peter Walker is an American folk guitarist noted for dexterous instrumental pieces that reference the Indian classical and Spanish flamenco traditions. Recognized principally for his recorded output in the mid-to-late sixties, his rediscovery by the current generation of American and European outsider folk artists has seen his work accorded similar reverence to that of other notable American finger-pickers such as Sandy Bull, John Fahey, Robbie Basho and Leo Kottke, and granted him a renewed platform for both touring and recording. In 2009 Birdman Records released "Spanish Guitar" and in 20013 Delmore Recording Society released "Has Anybody Seen Our Freedoms?". In 2015 3rd Man recordings released "Peter Walker Live at 3rd Ma.
Walker made another album after Second Poem, 1970’s Has Anybody Seen Our Freedoms?, though it was only released last year. But it’s more in line with his folk-singer antecedents and solo-guitar contemporaries, not the alien abstraction of Second Poem. Had Walker pursued this path, where might he have arrived? Light in the Attic’s continued tunneling of Vanguard vaults likely won’t answer those sort of questions, but it will continue to raise them. What’s more, these albums went out of print almost instantly, meaning that they’ve been consistently expensive collector’s items for years.

I'm upset now let me tell you why, Our old cat sneaked away, upon the sly My old Ma declares it is a sign that bad luck's coming, and two to one it's mine! I've been wond'ring who I am to blame for sneaking the bacon and the brawn and the can of milk and beef steak pie, When they're missing on a Sunday morn! Every night, as soon as we're in bed, All his old pals gather overhead; Gently calling for him to come out and play a game of leapfrog 'round the gutter of the spout
Renowned 60s guitarist, Peter Walker will play The Workman’s Club on the 14/11. His music, celebrated by the late Jack Rose, James Blackshaw, Steffen Basho-Junghans, Thurston Moore, and Greg Davis, all contributed original compositions to the 2006 tribute album, A Raga For Peter Walker. Walker released his classic Rainy Day Raga LP in 1966, and 1968’s influential Second Poem to Karmela or Gypsies Are Important, both on Vanguard Records.
