Luigi Federico Creatore (December 21, 1921 – December 13, 2015) was an American songwriter and record producer. Creatore was born in New York City in 1921, the son of noted bandleader and composer Giuseppe Creatore. After serving with the United States military during World War II, in the 1950s he became a writer then partnered with his cousin Hugo Peretti to form the songwriting team of Hugo & Luigi that also produced records.
The William Tell Overture is the opening piece of the homonymous opera (Guillame Tell) written by Rossini and premiered in 1829. It was his last opera, after which he went into semi-retirement, only to work on cantatas, sacred music and secular vocal music. Ther overture is in four parts withut pause. The piece has seen repeated use and parody, most famously as the theme music for The Lone Ranger and The Adventures of William Tell.

William Tell learned to play guitar from his father (also named William Tell) at a young age and began writing his own songs as well. During a break between touring for the band, Tell decided that he wanted to leave to pursue his own solo career. On February 4, 2004 it was announced by the band that Tell had left. He returned home to California and began writing songs.
Luigi Federico Creatore was born in New York on December 211921. His father, originally from Naples, became a well-known American band leader. Luigi served in the US Navy in the war, and became a writer of novels and advertising jingles. In 1964, he and Peretti left RCA to write a Broadway musical about the American Civil War, but this flopped.
