My Version is grey marbled, can't find it. Anybody else?
B2) Set It Out is just wonderful & out of time = a classic.
to answer everybodys questions and because i need more than 10 words: this is "U" with the vocals
set it outtttt
I'm prob late to the game or totally clueless about something, but is the melody on 'Set it Out' nicked from another previous piece of music (sampled? re-created?). Because Groove Armada used the exact same riff in this 2008 track: Like I said, I prob missed something everyone else (including Omar) already knew, but I just want to make sure...
Thank you, don't know how I missed that. Mystery solved!
Yup - Omar S sampled Ghosttown DJ's "My Boo" for "Set It Out". ( But "Set It Out" is also a cover of Midways garage house classic cut bearing the same title..
Right in the "Notes" on this page it says:"Chords on B2 are sampled from Ghost Town DJ's 'My Boo'" - it's in the production notes of the record
Mine's a white label with yellow paint marker writing. Anyone else got this?
I got a copy with red or orange marker. Nice release!
Gold Crown
No need to pay discogs prices, you can get the whole catalog from the man himself for only $7 a pop with free shipping if you spend more than $20 bucks. SUPPORT THE ARTISTS!Great release BTW!
you can get some release on the label here cheers
How would one go about contacting him? Cheers
Thank you for the suggestion!
Set it out is unforgettable.Wish some of the represses would have 'u' without the vocals but it's only the very first pressing that does not contain the vocal.
This pressing is a bit funny. There is no separation after each track.
Have another Omar S. release with the same thing. Might be how he likes things or habit of the mastering engineer he uses.
Rose Of Winds
Is 'U' with or without vocal on this one?
Mine has the vocals too.
looks like its with.
My record has the vocals
Can anyone confirm if this has the instrumental or vocal version of "U"? This blue version is also the same as the 2009 repress, no?
Vocel version, dunno about the repress though
- Ignore.
Vocal version.
vocal version. yes same as 2009 with the extra track a3
untitled is out of this world
Totally agree.
one of my faves from 2004. every track is right. side A features a really short beatdown house/techno track that i really hope gets extended for a future release. A2 is probably the track i bought this for, a building house track, a bit similair to the Psychostasia label releases. B1 is a dub of the "U" track he put out on Subgroundz, i prefer it with the vocal. B2 is one for the soul heads! Buy this!
But where would Carl Craig be without Liasons Dangereuses? Some of his output relies on just looping half that album. I get your sentiment, but am I bothered about the software or the source? Maybe out of curiosity. But set it out is a groove and i think your initial instincts were right... he is a decent, original artist from detroit, and just like many others writes a lesser track now and then. But ill stand by set it out as a fresh take on a great original.
Condemning an artists entire body of work for lifting uncredited vocals on one track is ridiculous dude. By that logic a lot of artists in dance music would be on your shit list too. And if you think "Set it out" is the only reason to pay attention to FXHE you really need to listen to more of their catalog
the a2 track (aka "set it out") on this record is actually an acapella by Midway "remixed" by a.o.s who added some bog standard groovebox drums and decided to put the song out as his own work, not a single word about the source of the vocal track - the label sais "OMAR-S DETROIT" - too bad; shame & a straight 1/5. why so harsh? two reasons - first, the uncredited vocal track is the key element of this song without which it wouldnt exist (and therefore wouldnt sell).second,if it wasnt for "set it out" i would never pay any attention to omar-s or fxhe as such. when i first heard this record i really believed that omar-s is some new detroit based talent able to write (and sing..naive me) "The secret to creativity is knowing how to hide your sources" - well said albert..feel free to disagree but before you do so,listen to Midway's "set it out" (both original and acapella).
Great Tracks , my copy is the one with the Blue Writing in Pen on the White Label and also credits to Rick Wilhite and Mike Huckaby etched in the run out grooove , when was this copy issued ?
