Beau Wanzer - Untitled Over the years, Ron Morelli's . label has nurtured an extensive network of sonic weirdos that draws on the noise cassette underground, lo-fi house, loner acid and grimy techno, introducing us to artists like Delroy Edwards, Terekke, Svengalisghost and Beau Wanzer. After a slew of singles on that label (and its offshoot, Russian Torrent Versions), Wanzer carved out a particularly grimy nook for himself. His self-released albums have contained warped miniatures that wallow in the red. In grotty condition, they are hard to date

Nation affiliate Beau Wanzer comes through with a self released collection of archival cuts drawn from his personal vat of recordings made between 2002-08 and it's basically 12 examples of how to rule. For the most part, Wanzer draws from a similar palette to the recent Power Outage 10" for Traxx's Nation, delivering short and sharp experiments in mangled hardware and dizzying vocals that have a clear nod to early wave and primitive electronics but still retain that distinct Beau Wanzer charm.

best Russian Torrents release. Hoedown is the beatdown!!

Ok, all bullshit aside...this record is dope; both sides. Wanzer's "Hey Hey Hey Hey" is the banger of choice for me. Sooo Dark & hypnotic. Drop this shit and a riot will ensue... Don't stand in the way with your drink cause it will get spilled. Cop It!

Now this is great - proper dingy, mind-bending techno for warehouses and dark corners. Both guys deliver here, but Svengalisghost really impresses with both his tracks - especially Dark Mistress. Love it!
Impala Frozen
wanzer side is great
Tetaian
GREAT RECORD!!

Hyped but Zzzzzz

I think that story is BS. Both Verker releases on L.I.E.S. got leaked before release, plain and simple. Obviously Nina got themfrom someone or somewhere and played them, that's it. I also had it several weeks before release and could have played it outif I thought it was actually any good. No Russian torrent version or any of that BS. The whole "Russian" thing is simply a joke inreference to Nina Kraviz (oh she's Russian so she MUST have got it from some Russian torrent website or some bs like that).
Togar
hahahah please, really, you clearly had a bad day.
Blackbrand
lol, didn't know about that. well that sort of makes sense then... but i'm guessing Morelli wasn't the only one with that track, pretty sure she got it elsewhere/directly from someone. anyways I still think he could've chosen a better name but what do I know, it's his label.

dima338There's no such thing as 'Russian' torrents. Believe it or not, there are a lot of guys in Russia (and many other places) who are big LIES fans but for various reasons they can't buy the records so the internet is their only way of accessing this music. These are the very guys who create a lot of the 'hype' that LIES gets via social networks or word of mouth. That's how it is and always has been with underground music. It'd be wonderful if everyone could get hold of these records but the truth is that most people don't or can't. Doesn't mean they don't support the label in other ways or contribute to its relative popularity. I'm not justifying piracy here but do you really have to diss a huge part of your fanbase with this stupid Russian torrent shit? Maybe I'm taking it all too seriously but there's just a million better themes/names for a sublabel that don't make you sound like a self-righteous douche. Whatever makes him feel better about himself...dima338 the reason is apparently that Ron Morelli uploaded an alternate version of Vereker's track to a L.I.E.S. thread on funkysouls, and a little while later Nina Kraviz was caught playing the ''russian torrent version'' of the track. Hence Russian Torrent Versions.

the man voiced his opinion on the internet, what did he expect?

o.o .

These really are quite boring. Wanzer's side is decent but that's about it. Also, Russian Torrent Versions? If it wasn't for the internet (torrents included), you wouldn't be sitting in Paris now Ron, no need to get all self-righteous. Not funny for those Russians who actually buy your records (yes we do exist). Peace

It's because he's so k00l and goes to da klub and does MaNdY and m0LLY with his m8's all da time and he has too much $wag. A man of discernible taste.
Quphagie
Uninspired noisy jam tracks. No soul in these whatsoever, just harsh electronics and boring rhythms. Raw is fine when it grooves, but these fall flat on their face. Or more accurately, never stand up on 2 legs to begin wit
Adaly
LOL so The Game by Bicep is a gem and this is too boring for you? Great taste bro
Dammy
Shit is huge. Don't sleep.
